Patna: Revenue and land reforms department minister Dilip Jaiswal on Friday said the Bihar govt would soon appoint 8,054 revenue officials to expedite work in the department and improve the disposal of pending land-related cases.According to sources, the general administration department on May 20 sent a requisition letter to the Bihar Staff Selection Commission for appointment to 8,054 vacant posts of revenue staff under the revenue and land reforms department for further necessary action.Dilip told this newspaper he had been working to resolve land-related problems at the grassroots level and thanked CM Samrat Choudhary for recognising the shortage of officers and transferring three IAS officers — Inayat Khan, Seema Tripathi and Prashant CH — to the department for faster disposal of cases. He said nearly 40,000 cases had remained pending for a long time due to the strike by circle officers and revenue officials. The minister also said the govt had revived the defunct Bihar Land Tribunal (BLT) and increased the number of its members from five to seven to strengthen the redressal mechanism.Dilip said he would personally monitor and review operations in three districts daily in three shifts between May 25 and June 11 to make officials more accountable and effective. He said the objective of the daily monitoring mechanism was to speed up the disposal of pending district-level cases, improve the quality of digital services and ensure timely delivery of revenue services to the public.“Intensive review will be conducted for all services, including mutation, parimarjan, e-Mapi, Abhiyan Basera, and the revenue mega campaign,” he said. All district magistrates have been directed to personally attend the review meetings and ensure the presence of settlement officers, additional collectors, district land acquisition officers, besides circle officers and other officials concerned.Special attention during the review meetings will be given to the status of “defect checks” for online mutations (Dakhil-Kharij) and the disposal of pending cases.
