Dabolim airport asked to give more land for police outpost

Panaji: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has recommended that the airport director at Dabolim hand over a total of 311.6 sqm of space within the multi-level car parking building to the police dept.The commission took suo motu cognisance of a news report that said Dabolim airport police station and traffic cell of the Dabolim airport work from porta cabins, with a total built-up area of 182sqm, highlighting poor working conditions of police personnel.The commission recommended, in Nov last year, that the airport director, Goa international airport, hand over the area measuring 190sqm at basement level 1 in the multi-level car parking building, Goa international airport, to the DGP within 30 days.After inspection, the commission also asked for an additional area of 121.6 sqm at basement level 1, opposite the earlier area of 190 sqm, be also handed over by the airport director, Goa International Airport, to the DGP.The commission’s acting chairperson, Desmond D’Costa, and member Pramod V Kamat stated that the DGP takes steps to provide the facilities.
