Thai Buddhist monk visits cancer centre, donates ICU beds
Renowned Thai Buddhist monk, Somdet Phra Thirayanamuni, graced the Buddha Cancer Medical Centre in Patna with his presence, praising the compassionate care provided to those in need. In a gesture of generosity, he donated five ICU beds and initiated the construction of a new facility, offering heartfelt prayers for the patients.

Patna: Somdet Phra Thirayanamuni, abbot of Wat Debsirindrawas and a distinguished member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, visited the Buddha Cancer Medical Centre in Patna along with a delegation of 20 disciples from Thailand on Tuesday.During the visit, the senior Buddhist monk expressed appreciation for the cancer care being provided to underprivileged patients from Bihar and Jharkhand. He praised the institution for its commitment to delivering quality oncology treatment to economically weaker sections of society.As part of his contribution, Thirayanamuni donated five modern ICU beds to strengthen the centre’s critical care services. He also laid the foundation stone for a new building at the Buddha Cancer Centre through traditional Buddhist chanting rituals, marking an important step in the institution’s future expansion.The monk also met nearly 50 admitted cancer patients and offered prayers and blessings for their speedy recovery. Hospital officials said his visit brought encouragement and hope to patients and their families.Dr Arvind Kumar, founder director and chief medical oncologist of Buddha Cancer Centre Pvt Ltd, Patna, was present during the visit along with his team. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kumar said, “Visits by global spiritual leaders not only uplift the morale of our medical team but also provide immense emotional support to cancer patients and their caregivers.”The visit is being seen as a significant moment for the Buddha Cancer Medical Centre, highlighting its efforts to combine advanced medical treatment with compassion and community support.
