Actor Allu Sirish tied the knot with Nayanika Reddy, embracing traditional ceremonies. He faced online criticism for wearing jewellery, including a choker, during his engagement and wedding. Sirish, however, stands firm on his fashion choices, asserting that men should also explore accessories and that gender norms are evolving. He believes in personal expression over societal dictates.

Allu Arjun’s younger brother, actor Allu Sirish, got married to his lovelady Nayanika Reddy, on March 6, in a traditional wedding ceremony in Hyderabad. Recently, the actor opened up about the criticism he received for wearing jewellery during the festivities.

Trolls after the engagement look

During the engagement, Allu Sirish wore an intricate choker along with his outfit. Soon after photos and videos appeared online, many memes and trolls started circulating. Some people joked about his fashion choice and questioned why a man would wear a choker. Even during the wedding celebrations, Sirish continued to wear diamond and gold jewellery. He also got mehendi with Nayanika’s name, along with Lord Balaji’s namam-shanku-chakra for the wedding day.

Allu Sirish says men should enjoy fashion too

While speaking with Hindustan Times, the ‘Buddy’ actor said he is confident in his choices and does not allow others to decide what is masculine or feminine. “Gender norms are a new construct, and in ancient times, we were more gender fluid. Men also wore jewellery, and until a hundred years ago, there was no separate perfume for men and women. But now, it’s all blue for boys and pink for girls,” he said.He also explained that he expected some trolling but still chose to go ahead. “I thought even if I get trolled, let me break that. We needed to start somewhere,” he added.

Not everyone around him agreed

Additionally, Allu Sirish shared that people close to him were unsure about the idea at first. Some even questioned why he wanted to wear jewellery for the ceremonies. He explained that if people do not try new things, nothing will change for many years. He shared that he is happy he wore what he wanted on one of the most important days of his life.He also added how, as men don’t get to play around with clothes, they can do it with accessories. “I am pretty self-assured, so I don’t need others to dictate what’s masculine or feminine. I will dictate what I can wear and nobody else,” he added.On the work front, Allu Sirish was last seen in the 2024 film, ‘Buddy’.
