Bank of India Officers Attacked During Loan Recovery Visit in Ratnagiri; FIR Registered


A serious and unfortunate incident took place in Maharashtra when bank officials were attacked during a loan recovery visit. The incident involved officials from the Asset Recovery Branch (ARB) and Shirgaon Branch of Bank of India under the Ratnagiri Zone.

According to information shared, the officials had gone to meet a borrower whose loan account had become a Non-Performing Asset (NPA). The purpose of the visit was to follow up on the recovery of the overdue loan amount.

However, the situation turned violent during the visit. The borrower, along with some of his associates, allegedly attacked the bank officials and also damaged the bank’s vehicle. The attackers reportedly used an iron rod and hit the vehicle, causing damage.

The situation quickly became very hostile. Despite the dangerous circumstances, the bank officials remained calm and acted with presence of mind. They managed to escape from the location safely and avoided any physical injuries.

After the incident, the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) Maharashtra State Unit (MS-1) immediately took the matter seriously. The union submitted a formal complaint to the Superintendent of Police (SP) demanding strict and immediate action against the accused persons. The union also requested the police to ensure proper protection for bank officials who are performing their official duties.

The bank officers’ union strongly condemned the attack on bank officials. The union stated that bank officers are public servants who work to safeguard public money and such incidents are unacceptable.
