Gulki Joshi of Yaadein: That first moment in front of the camera almost anchors me into my character Srishty’s world

Yaadein, inspired by the hit Italian series DOC, dives into a heartfelt story of memory loss, rediscovering who you are, and grabbing those rare second chances. At its center is Dr. Dev Mehta (Iqbal Khan), a top doctor piecing his life back together after losing years of memories. As he does, everyone around him—including his ex-wife Srishty (Gulki Joshi) has to face feelings they’ve buried deep.Srishty’s the no-nonsense hospital administrator: calm, practical, and keeps her heart under lock and key, always picking control over letting emotions spill out. To bring her to life, Gulki stays locked into that emotional rollercoaster all day, so continuity isn’t just about the shots, it’s about feeling it in her bones.Sharing a behind-the-scenes insight, Gulki Joshi said, “For me, the first shot of the day is crucial because it sets the emotional rhythm for everything that follows. If it’s an intense scene, you naturally carry that energy to the rest of your scenes, and if it’s lighter, it helps ease you into the day. Since my character Srishty is someone who internalizes a lot, I have to be very mindful of where she is emotionally at every point.”Earlier, in a statement, Gulki shared her experience of working with Iqbal Khan, she said, “Sometimes the industry feels vast, and sometimes it feels incredibly small. For me, working with Iqbal has been one of those rare full-circle moments. There’s a certain nostalgia attached to it because I grew up hearing about that era of television at home. To now be standing across from him as a co-actor feels quietly surreal. What I value most is the comfort he brings to a scene. He stays very focused and follows his instincts, which makes emotional scenes easy and natural to perform. There’s mutual respect in the way we approach our work, and that naturally reflects on screen. It’s one of those experiences that reminds you how unpredictably life aligns things at the right time.”With all that thoughtful prep and laser focus on the emotions, Gulki pours real quiet strength and authenticity into Srishty—making her story hit home and keep you hooked.
