Ram Navami 2026: History

According to Sri Rama Navami’s history, Lord Rama was born on this day, and he was born to Dasharatha, the king of Ayodhya, and his wife Kausalya. Kausalya, Sumitra, and Kaikeyi were three wives of king Dashratha. He was deeply unhappy for the people of Ayodhya because he had no one to take up the charge of this kingdom in future. The great Rishi Vasistha (his Guru) once suggested him to perform the Puthra Kamesti Yagna in order to fulfill his desire to have a son. He offered his three wives a kheer to become pregnant after Yagna was finished.

Ram Navami 2026: Significance

According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Rama was born on Navami tithi of shukla paksha in the month of Chaitra. Since Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Rama, Ram Navami is celebrated with immense happiness and joy. Devotees travel from across the country to visit Ayodhya city to celebrate Rama Navami. Lord Rama is the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. Chanting Lord Rama Mantras on this auspicious day is believed to bring health, money, and success as well as help one atone for any sins.

Who was Lord Rama?

In Hindu scriptures, Lord Rama was born to king Dasharatha and queen kaushalya in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
