A shocking incident has come to light from the Lasudia police station area of Indore, where two women allegedly entered a house and assaulted a resident after claiming to be bank bouncers. The police have registered a case against the accused and started an investigation into the matter.
According to the police, the complainant Gunja Paliwal (40), a resident of Shreenath Township, filed a complaint regarding the incident. She stated that the incident happened on Saturday afternoon when she was present at her home. At that time, two women identified as Sushma Dubey and Bulbul arrived at her house. The women claimed that they were bank bouncers.
Gunja Paliwal told the police that when the two women introduced themselves as bank bouncers, she asked them to show their identification or proof of their connection with the bank. However, the accused women allegedly became angry when she asked for their identity proof.
According to the complaint, the situation quickly turned violent. The two women allegedly started abusing Gunja Paliwal and physically assaulting her. They reportedly beat her with hands and fists, grabbed her by the hair, and threw her to the ground.
Hearing the noise and commotion, two neighbours, Reshma and Neha, rushed to the house to help Gunja. When the neighbours intervened, the two accused women fled from the spot. The victim also alleged that before leaving, the accused threatened to kill her if she was seen in the house again.
Police officials said that the complainant is reportedly involved in a dispute related to a bank loan, which may be linked to the incident. Based on Gunja Paliwal’s complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused women under sections related to assault, abuse, and criminal intimidation (threat to kill).
There are reports that private banks hire bouncers for recovery of loan EMIs. If loan borrower defaults on EMI, the recovery agents visit the house of loan borrower and try to recover EMIs from him/her. Earlier, Union Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur stated that no bank has the power to employ bouncers in order to recover loans forcefully. In accordance with the Reserve Bank of India guidelines, recovery agents are to be hired with proper police verification and other formalities required for the purpose of recovering loans. RBI has issued ‘Guidelines on Fair Practices Code for Lenders’ which are required to be adopted by banks, duly approved by their Board.
The Lasudia police have started an investigation and said that further action will be taken after examining the facts and gathering evidence related to the case.
