Kristin Cabot still feels the sting from that one awkward moment on the kiss cam at a Coldplay concert last summer. Caught hugging her boss, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, during the July 2025 show in Massachusetts, she watched her life unravel fast. Frontman Chris Martin joked onstage about a possible affair, and the clip exploded online, bringing scrutiny, harassment, even death threats that left her kids scared to be seen with her.
Cutting ties over trust
In her latest chat on The Oprah Podcast, released March 17, 2026, Cabot revealed she cut ties with Byron last fall. “There was a big miss on honesty and integrity,” she told Oprah Winfrey. “He wasn’t the person he represented himself to be, to me, and lying is a non-negotiable for me”. When pressed on whether Byron lied about his marriage, she held back to protect his privacy. “I wanna be really careful, because the world spoke for me and on my behalf, and I don’t wanna do that to somebody else and their family,” Cabot said. Still, she added, “A lot of what was represented to me was not true”
Facing fallout
The imbalance hits hard, after the scandal, Andy Byron was spotted with his wife, rings on, while staying silent. Here, Kristen Cabot feels abandoned. “I was left holding the bag, and I don’t, you know, being the one that was attacked for this and he’s remained silent, to me, that’s not a quality that I would look for in a friend or a partner or a boss,” she shared with Winfrey. “So we have no relationship now” .She owns her role but questions the punishment. “I own the poor decision that I made in that moment, and I’ve paid an unimaginable price for that,” Cabot said, noting every detail of her appearance got ripped apart online. Byron fields job offers; she struggles to get hired, deemed “unemployable.” “I think he has the luxury of staying silent, and he can go back to work when he’s ready. I don’t,” she explained. “I have to explain and explain and justify”Through it all, Cabot learned about empathy in a meme-driven world. “I can’t stay silent and accept what has happened,” she told Oprah. “And I do feel like it’s important that people understand the real story and also how harmful it is to just make assumptions and judge”. Her story reminds us one clip doesn’t define a person, but the internet sure tries.
