A 23-year-old Scottish social media influencer has pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle cannabis worth up to £150,000 (around Rs 1.86 crore) into Scotland via Edinburgh Airport, according to court proceedings.Ellie Crampsie was stopped by Border Force officers on April 16 last year after arriving from Thailand via Paris on an Air France flight. Prosecutors told the court that during routine questioning, she confirmed her travel history before her luggage was searched.Officials found 17 sealed vacuum packages containing approximately 17.7 kg of cannabis, classified as a Class B drug in the UK. The total estimated street value of the seized drugs ranged between £115,000 and £151,000.
Pleads guilty in court
Crampsie appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on March 26, 2026, where she admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis.Prosecutor Emma Laing outlined the sequence of events, while the court heard that Crampsie was arrested at the airport shortly after the drugs were found in her luggage.Her defence lawyer requested bail be continued, describing her previous offending as “unremarkable in the context of this offence” and noting that she has family support.

Crampsie, from Glasgow’s Broomhouse area, is known in the city’s nightlife and events scene, where she promotes brands on social media. She also runs a beauty business, “Brows by Ellie,” specialising in styling and treatments.
Sentencing deferred
Presiding over the case, Sheriff Graeme Watson said sentencing would be deferred to allow for a criminal justice social work report.“I’m going to adjourn sentencing… all sentencing options will be open to me,” he said, while continuing her bail conditions.
