
Bhubaneswar: Senior banker Sangram Ajitav Das (43), Vice President of HDFC Bank, died in a tragic incident in Jajpur on Wednesday after slipping into the Kharasrota River while bathing with friends.

According to reports, Das accidentally lost his footing in the river and was swept into deeper water. He was immediately rescued and taken to Jajpur Road Hospital around noon. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The sudden death of Das has shocked the banking community and his colleagues. Senior officials and staff members of HDFC Bank rushed to Jajpur to support the grieving family.
Das had been working with HDFC Bank for the last 17 years and was widely respected for his dedication to his work. During his career, he played an important role in expanding the bank’s branch network in Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur districts.
He also worked actively to promote financial inclusion in the region, helping bring banking services to many underserved communities.
Das was an alumnus of KIIT University. He was known among colleagues for his leadership, commitment, and friendly approach towards people. His sudden death has left his colleagues, friends, and family members deeply saddened.
