Toyota Motor Corporation has launched the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ in Japan. Priced at JPY 4,500,100, which converts to roughly Rs 27.24 lakh, the SUV is also expected to make its way to India in the future. Here’s a quick look at what to expect from this more accessible Land Cruiser.

Land Cruiser FJ: All you need to know

In terms of size, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ measures around 4,575 mm to 4,610 mm in length depending on the specification referenced, while width stands at 1,855 mm. Height is rated between 1,890 mm and 1,960 mm, and the wheelbase measures 2,580 mm. Compared to larger Land Cruiser models, the FJ uses a shorter wheelbase setup, which also helps achieve a tight turning radius of 5.5 metres. The design stays true to the traditional Land Cruiser identity with a boxy silhouette, upright stance and rugged proportions. Toyota has given the SUV smooth rounded edges to avoid making it look overly aggressive. Exterior highlights include LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, part-LED tail lamps and a side-hinged tailgate with a spare wheel mounted at the rear. Interestingly, Toyota has skipped a sunroof, although buyers looking for a serious off-road SUV are unlikely to consider that a major drawback.Inside the cabin, the FJ gets a modern but functional layout. It features a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch driver information display, alongside a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other key features include dual-zone automatic climate control and connected convenience features.

Land Cruiser FJ: Engine specs

Under the hood, the Japanese-spec model is powered by a 2.7-litre 2TR-FE naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. The motor produces around 163 hp and torque output stands at 246 Nm. Power is sent through a 6-speed automatic gearbox paired with a part-time four-wheel-drive system.Toyota says the SUV has been developed with serious off-road capability in mind. The Land Cruiser FJ is built on a platform derived from Toyota’s IMV architecture and is claimed to offer wheel articulation comparable to the larger 70 Series Land Cruiser.
