Irani’s president Masoud Pezeshkian, on Sunday, questioned the United States’ authority to limit Iran’s nuclear programme, asking what legal basis Washington had for such demands.Reuters, citing the Iranian Student News Agency, reported that Pezeshkian said the US had no valid justification to deny Iran access to its own technology.Speaking publicly, Pezeshkian directly criticised US Trump saying, “Trump says Iran cannot make use of its nuclear rights, but doesn’t say for what crime. Who is he to deprive a nation of its rights?” he questioned. His remarks come as negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue, with both sides still divided on key issues including the nuclear issue. A temporary ceasefire is also set to expire on Wednesday.Late on Saturday, Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said some progress had been made in talks aimed at ending the conflict, but major differences remain.“We are still far from the final discussion,” Ghalibaf said in a televised address. “We made progress in the negotiations, but there are many gaps and some fundamental points remain.”Iran claims US/Israeli strikes violate the UN Charter, NPT, and sovereignty, lacking congressional approval or imminent threat justification. No IAEA report conclusively proves NPT breaches by Iran pre-strikes.
